United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
The
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have agreed to
cooperate in efforts pertaining to flood control and water resources
management. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to
establish their partnership in promoting the use of safe, efficient and
environmentally sound water management systems. IWR plays a role in the
implementation of this MOU.

Purpose: The
partners intend to collaborate in flood control and water resources
development in developing countries and countries in transition.
Terms: The partners intend to jointly pursue opportunities in:
- Flood control, floodplain management and water resources in developing countries and countries in transition
- Consensus building
- Capacity building
- Infrastructure development
